El recientemente elegido comité directivo de la Red de Investigación en Derecho del Trabajo (Labour Law Research Network), de la cual dábamos noticia hace unos días, acaba de elegir como presidente de la red al profesor Howe, de la Universidad de Melbourne. Surgida precisamente la LLRN de cierta discrepancia de los miembros australianos con la Sociedad Internacional de Derecho del Trabajo y Seguridad Social, nos gustaría que su elección fuera el momento de comenzar a converger ambas organizaciones en los evidentes intereses comunes que profesamos, incluso aunque la red no tenga la naturaleza de asociación jurídica sino de simple red de departamentos e institutos de investigacion en Derecho del Trabajo.
Desde nuestro Instituto dirigimos un cordial y afectuoso saludo a ambos presidentes, el saliente y el recién elegido, y nos ponemos a su disposición en ese objetivo siempre pendiente e igualmente apasionante de investigar sobre la realidad y el futuro del Derecho del Trabajo.
Reproducimos la carta que el presidente saliente, el prof. Guy Davidov de la Universidad Hebrea de Jerusalén, ha dirigido a los miembros del consejo asesor, del que el IERI forma parte:
Dear advisory committee members,
I am happy to update you that the new LLRN steering committee has chosen John Howe, who is the director of the Centre for Employment and Labour Relations Law at the University of Melbourne, as the next Chair of the committee. Many congratulations and thanks to John for the willingness to assume this role — I am sure that the LLRN will continue to flourish and further develop under his leadership.
I would like to personally thank the many people who have helped, encouraged and supported me in leading the LLRN for the past 4 years. I hope I will not disappoint the friends and colleagues who have asked me to continue as Chair for another term. I do sincerely appreciate the vote of confidence, but I thought it would be best for the organization to have a change in leadership after two terms. I am delighted that the new steering committee has accepted my recommendation concerning the new Chair.
Needless to say, I will continue to be involved as part of the steering committee, and we’ve agreed on a gradual transition — especially with regard to the next conference (in Toronto), which I will help to organize.
